Purpose:  The mission of the Children and Youth Christian Education Ministry Team is to encourage and nurture spiritual growth in the congregation through education in Biblical studies, Reformed theology, and specific studies that relate gospel teachings to life experiences.

Session Alignment:  This team is a functioning part of the structure of the Session of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church of Princess Anne.  Its areas of ministry are in Youth, Vacation Bible School, Adult and Children Sunday School, and Kids of Grace preschool and includes Confirmation classes.

Membership:   This ministry team will have a Chairperson who is an Elder, and at least five at-large members.  The members at-large should be the Superintendent or Director of Sunday School, Youth Council representative, Director of Christian Education, as well as those interested from the congregation.  The Pastor will serve as an ex-officio member.  No person shall ordinarily serve on this ministry team for more than three consecutive years. 

·         Leadership:  The Chairperson is the Elder and Session member.  The Chairperson will designate a recorder who will record the minutes and distribute them.  The Elder draws up the agenda for each meeting taking suggestions from ministry team members.

·         Meetings:  The Ministry Team meets every month and may hold additional meetings as the members deem appropriate. 

·         Reporting:  A written report will be sent to the Moderator and the Clerk of Session after each meeting.  This report shall include a record of  attendance, summary of actions, and assignments of responsibility.  The Chairperson and Recorder will maintain copies of these reports.

Responsibilities:  

            Goals:  Determine annually a list of goals and objectives for the ministry team.

            Budget:  At the request of the Stewardship and Finance Ministry team, submit a proposed itemized budget for the following calendar year by the deadline established each year.

            Inventory:  Establish a physical inventory plan including Christian Education equipment and materials that will be reviewed annually.

            Programs:   Direct and monitor Sunday School program, including the Sunday School nursery, Youth programs, Vacation Bible School, and Kids of Grace preschool. 

Reporting:  This ministry team will report regularly to the Session and annual to the congregation through the Annual Session Report.                                                           9/07
