21 Youth
and 6 adults had a great day of Fun in the Sun on Saturday, August 26,
2006 as we spent a day in the Outer Banks. Our first activity was to
take in the surround view one can experience when standing on top of
dunes near the Wright Memorial. The sun was bright and warm as we
trekked over the dunes. Some tossing football, throwing the Frisbee and
rolling down the hill was enjoyed by some. ken, the Youth Leader
brought his kite with about a 25 ft tail and let almost 2,000 feet of
string as the site was enjoyed by all.
Next we
went to the beach and enjoyed the coolness of the ocean. Some of us
tried to body surf, and the daring ones tried to balance as the
attempted (some successfully) the skim board. An aggressive game of
keep away with the football was played between the adults and the
kids. Fun (and plenty of sand and seawater intermixed) was had by all.
Before we
headed back home, our appetites were the key factor in us placing much
pizza and salad in our empty stomachs. We all enjoyed the unique sauce
and cheese used by Pizzazz Pizza.
And I
finally wanted to give a special thanks to Colleen Swayne for all the
effort she gave in planning and organizing the Youth Trip! Thank you
Colleen!"
